CELL AND TISSUES
THE CELL
A cell is the smallest structural and functional unit of the living body to understand the function of organs and other structures of the body it is essential to understand the basic organisation of the cell and the function of each component of cell (cell organells) ahuman body may have as many as 1014 cells the size shape and functions of the cell vary significantly to suit the requirement a verage diameter of the cell is approximately 10um
physical structure of the cell
the cell along with fluid enzymes and chemical contain highly organised physical structure called as organelles most cells comprise of 1.cell membrane 2. cytoplasm and 3.nucleus
the cell membrane is the outer covering of the cell which is 7.5 to 10 nanometers thick it is composed almost entirely of proteins and lipids
cytoplasm consists of various organelles like endoplasmic reticulum mitochondria lysosomes golgi apparatus ribosomes centrosomes etc
tne nucleus consists of nuclear membrane nucleolus and network of chromatin (DNA)
