HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY

 NEURON KA PART

A PART from neurons there is a special type of interstitial tissue which has the supporting function these cells are called neuroglial cells

nerve fibre ;

the processes of nerve cells are dedrites and axons form nerve fibres which may be myelinated or non myelinated
myelinated fibres show central axis cylinder surrounded by myelin sheath it is interrupted at regular intervals by constriction known as nodes of ranvier outside the myelin sheath lies nucleus all the nerve fibres supplied to skeletal muscles are of myelinated type myeline sheath allows faster conducation at impulses
non myelinated nerve fibres have central axis cylinder surrounded by neurolemma MOST of the autonomic nerves are non myelinated
