HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY

 THE PELVIS ::

There are differences in size shape and angles of the male and female pelvis this is due to the adaptation of the female pelvis for the structural need associated with pregnancy and child birth the female pelvis is wider and shallower than that of the male the sacrum being shorter and wider the sciatic notch is also wider in females the pubic arch an obtuse angle in the female and acute angle in the male in short female pelvis is like a shallow section of a broad cone whereas the male pelvis is like a deep section of a narrow cone the muscle attachments are generally deeper in male as compared to female
    The femur :: it is the thigh bone which resembles somewhat with the humerus of the upper arm femur is the longest and the strongest bone of the body its upper part has a round head which articulates with the acetabulum of the hip bone and forms the ball and socket joint the rounded head and its long neck of the femur is much more prominent than that of humerus and the acetabulum is deeper than the glenoid cavity of the scapula all this is to establish better stability of the hip joint which has to bear the weight of the trunk
