 JOINTS OF THE SKELETON 

The joint or articulation is the junction between two or more bones regardless of the actual movement it permits the joints of the body are classified according to the degree and types of movements they perform there are three types of joints :: (1) Fibrous or immovable (2) cartilagenous or slightly movable and (3) synovial or freely movable 

TYPES OF JOINTS

Fibrous joints : It is the type of joint where bones are not movable Here the connecting medium between the joints is fibrous tissue the articulations of the skull bones are typical of the fibrous joint known as sutures following are the examples of sutures :
1. coronal suture that joints the frontal and parietal bones of the skull .
2. lambdoid suture that joins both the parietal bones with the occipital bone of the skull.
3. sagittal suture is the joint between two parietal bones of the skull.
Teeth in the sockets is an example of peg and socket joint it is also an immovable joint tibio fibular joint (synchondrosis ) is also a type of fibrous joint
