HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY

 CONTRACTURE::

This is a prolonged reversible partial contracted state of muscle achieved due to repeated stimulation the cause of contracture is fatigue and hence there is prolonged relaxation period it is reversible if proper rest is given
    Partial contraction may also be seen in other forms as follows:
1. Rigor moritis: it is the stiffening or contraction of muscle after death it is a permanent and irreversible contraction
2.Tonic contraction : muscles are in a partial state of contraction in the body this stage is called the tonic contraction or tone of the muscle
3. Tetanus :: sustained reversible and maximum contraction
4. Clonus : if 15-20 stimuli/sec are given to the muscle the next consequent contraction will start before completion of relaxation or the proceeding one this type of contraction is known as the clonus
5. Tetanus: if more than 25 stimuli per sec are given to the muscle a sustained state of contraction is evoked which is known as tetanus the tetanus can be defined as a sustained contraction of a muscle due to the fusion of many twitches following one by one in rapid succession
