VARIOUS TYPES OF MOVEMENTS AT JOINTS
1. Rotation movements:: these types of movements are due to one bone moving within another bone e.g movement of head rotation of radius over ulna movement of the ball of humerus in shoulder joint and movement of femur in the acetabulum of hip bone
2.Angular movements :: such types of movements can be of different types as follows ::
1. flexion : this is the bending of parts towards each other
2.Extension: this is the stretching or straightening out of a part from other
3.Adduction :this is the movement of a part towards the medial axis of the body
4. Abduction :: it is opposite to adduction i.e movement of a part away from the medial axis of the body
5. pronation : it is bending of the ventral surface downwards or turning palm of hand downwards (condition of blessing)
6.supination: it is lying on the back or moving palm upwards (condition of begging)
3.Gliding movements:: in this type of movement two flat surfaces move on each other e.g movement of carpal and tarsal bones in wrist foot respectively
