DIFFERENT JOINTS OF HUMAN BODY
JOINTS OF UPPER EXTREMITY::
1.Sterno-clavicular joint;;
this is a gliding type of joint formed by the sternal extremity of the clavicle with the sternum
2.Acromio-clavicular joint ;; this is the type of condyloid joint between the clavicle and the scapula
3. Shoulder joint:: it is also known as humero scapular joint the bones of this joint (scapula and humerus)
are joined by ligaments the head of the humerus rotates within the glenoid cavity of the scapula it is a type of ball and socket joint
4. Elbow joint : it is type of hinge joint formed between lower end of humerus and upper end of ulna it is also known as humero ulnar joint here head of the radius joins with the capitulum of the humerus and forms humero radial joint
5.radio ulnar joint : there are two movable joints namely superior and inferior radio ulnar joints in the inferior radio ulnar joint the lower end of the radius rotates on the head of the ulna the superior radio ulnar joint has little movements
6. wrist joint :: it is also known as radiocarpal joint it is a type of condyloid joint between the lower end of the radius with the articular discs of carpals below the head of the ulna the movements of flexion extension adduction and abduction occur at this joint
7.joints of the hand and fingers :: there are several joints in hand and fingers they can be described in brief as follows
1.inter carpal joint :: this is the type of gliding joint among carpals the apposed surfaces in between the carpals are smooth and flat the smooth surfaces slide easily on each other there is a limited gliding movement
2.carpo metacarpal joint :: this is also a gliding joint formed between distal part of the lower row of carpal bones and five metacarpal bones carpo metacarpal joint of the thumb is the saddle type of joint formed between the first metacarpal and trapezium inter metacarpal joints are formed between the metacarpal bones
3. metacarpo phalangeal joint :: it is the condyloid type of joint here the heads of the metacarpal bones unite with the proximal part of the respective phalanges
4. inter phalangeal joint :: this is a type of a hinge joint these joint these joints are formed by the articulation of the heads of the proximal phalanges and the base of the respective distal phalanges
