DISORDERS OF JOINT
ARTHRITIS :: it is a type of inflammatory disorder characterised by changes in the joint resulting in the restriction of locomotion there are two types of arthritis rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis
1. Rheumatoid arthritis :: it is a chronic inflammatory disease mostly infective type involving small joints characterised by stiffness and pains in joints resulting from progressive destruction of articular and periarticular structure it is progressive and lasts for years resulting in severe deformities if unchecked
2. Osteoarthritis :: it is a degenerative condition generally of large joints involving articular cartilages and weight bearing surfaces of the swollen joints stiffness with pain in jionts the muscle wasting and limited and unsteady movements are characteristics of osteoarthritis the causes (aetiology) include metabolic disorder trauma old age etc
rheumatic joints :: rhumatic fever is a streptococcal infection starting with tonsilitis in children it persists with high fever painful swelling of joints fleeting from joint to joint ankle knee wrist etc if it is not treated adequately with rest and drugs it may affect the heart and damage the valves of the heart resulting in life long heart damage it is said that it licks the joints but kicks the heart
Gout:: it is a recurrent acute arthritis of peripheral joints which results from deposition of crystals of monosodium urates in the joints and tendons
Bursitis :; Acute or chronic inflammation of a bursa is termed as bursitis bursa is a sac filled with synovial greasy fluid this gets infected and its become very painful
