COMPOSITION OF BLOOD


Blood is a complex fluid with suspended cells cells constitute about 45 percent and the fluid called plasma constitute 55 percent of blood 
A. Cell:: A red blood corpuscles (RBC) or erythrocytes
               B white blood cells (WBC) or Leucocytes 
                c. platelets or thrombocytes (TC) 
B. Plasma :: a water :90-92%
                    b solids : 8-10%
plasma : it is a pale cream coloured fluid consisting of organic and inorganic substances in addition to the formed elements (RBC,WBC,TC) 
A.Organic substances:
1. proteins : serum albumin globulin fibrinogen prothrombin etc form 7.5% of total 9% solids contained in plasma
2.NPN i.e. Non protein nitrogenous substances are urea uric acid creatinine hypoxanthine amino acids and ammonia 
3. carbohydrates: glucose and other sugars 
4. fats : neutral fats cholesterol phospholipids etc 
5. various substances: hormones antibodies enzymes vitamins etc 
6. colouring substances like bile pigments bilirubin and biliverdin 
B. inorganic substances are salts of sodium potassium calcium phosphorus magnesium etc
