COLOUR INDEX:: 

 The colour index is defined as relative amount of haemoglobin present in single RBC it can be easily determined by finding out the ratio of haemoglobin % and RBC%

    COLOUR INDEX= Hb% /RBC% Normal range of colour index is 0.85 to 1.15 if colour index is less than 0.85 it is called Hypochromic anaemia if it is more than 1.15 then it is called as Hyperchromic anaemia.
