HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY

 VASOPRESSIN

It is a posterior pituitary hormone that cause antidiuretic action (hence also known as anti-duretic hormone) AS an autacoid there is now evidence that indicate that vasopressin plays an important role in the short term regulation of arterial blood pressure by its vasoconstrictor action this activity causes increase in total peripheral resistance and it is enhanced in patients with idiopathic orthostatic hypotension

    ATRIAL NATRIURETIC FACTOR (ANF)

This is a polypeptide found in atria of mammals it is found in the concentration of 15pg /ml to 60pg/ml ANF is released by the following factors:
    (1) Atrial distension (2) increase in volume expansion (3) changing from a standing to supine position (4) Exercise (5) a- Adrenoceptor stimulation (6) Vasopressin
various pathloigical conditions like congestive heart failure primary aldosteronism chronic renal failure and inappropriate ADH secretion syndrome also increase secretion of ANF
