PGE1 and PGD2 are potent inhibitors of platelet aggregation some prostaglandins regulate the release of noradrenaline from the sympathetic nerve endings prostaglandins also seen to be involved in central neurotransmission PGE1 and E2 are reported to inhibit gastric acid secretion they are important mediators of inflammation possible therapeutic uses of prostaglandins are in :
1. Contraception 
2. Hypertension 
3. Induction of labour 
4. Induction of abortion 
5. Asthma and
6. peptic ulcers 

Various prostaglandin synthesis inhibitors:

These are the indomethacin aspirin mefenamic acid ibuprofen phenylbutazone etc they are used as anti- inflammatory agents 
            Prostaglandin antagonists are polyphloretin phosphate patulin and ethanol
