The Arterial System (part-2)::
After passing through abdomen the aorta (now called abdominal aorta as it lies in the abdominal cavity) gives off various branches supplying blood to respective regions Various branches of abdominal aorta are :
(1) Coeliac supplying blood to liver (hepatic artery) stomach (gastric artery ) and spleen (splenic artery )
(2) Superior mesenteric (to small and large intestine )
(3) Suprarenal artery (supplying blood to adrenal glands)
(4) Renal artery (supplyoing blood to kidney)
(5) Gonadals (supplying blood to testes or ovaries)
(6) Inferior mesenteric (supplying to some part of large intestine and rectum)
(7) Lumbar (supplying spinal cord and their meaning and)
(8) Sacral (to sacrum coccyx and gluteal muscles)
The abdominal aorta at the end of abdominal region is divided into two common iliacs that pass downwards into two lower limbs to give rise to (1) Internal iliac and (2) External iliac Internal iliac supplies to psoas muscles quaratus lumborum muscle medial side of the thigh urinary bladder prostate gland vas-deferens and uterus and vagina External iliacs run downwards as femoral artery (in thigh) and popliteal artery (in popliteal region) The popliteal artery is divided into anterior tibial artery and posterior tibial artery and supply the blood to lower part of the lower limb these arteries also give pedis arteries and planter arteries to supply the blood to foot
