DISORDERS OF DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
Constipation::
It is a condition in which defecation is delayed and hard stool is formed for varied reasons It may be due to consciously ignoring or preventing defecation reflex or due to decreased colonic motility which is secondary to ageing emotions a low bulk diet atonic or spastic colon chronic amoebiasis etc it is not so much a disease but the cause of many other diseases
Diarrhoea::
It is characterised by frequent defecation usually of high fluid fecal matter i.e watery stools the primary cause is greater intestinal motility with less time for absorption and thus the delivery of a large volume of fluid to the large intestine overloading its capacity to absorb salts and water it may result from infection allergy dietic indiscretion toxaemia etc
Nausea:
It is the distressing feeling of vomiting prior to vomit the cause may be local or general
Vomiting::
It is a sudden spasmodic expulsion of contents of the stomach the original cause is generally in the stomach or elsewhere it may be central reflex toxic or obstructive in nature
Anorexia::
It is the loss of appetite resulting from local or general causes and also anxiety or depression
