Fats are a great source of energy Fatty acids are oxidised in the presence of oxygen and degraded products like acetone acetoacetic acid and beta hydroxybutric acid are formed finally these products enter Krebs cycle where they are converted into carbon dioxide and water liberating energy Anterior pituitary hormones insulin adrenal cortex and thyroid hormones as well as vitamins like thiamine riboflavin nicotinic acid pantothenic acid and pyridoxine play an important role in fat metabolism
in the body synthesis of fats takes place from carbohydrates and proteins Linoleic acid linolenic acid or arachidonic acid are the Essential fatty Acids they play an important role in the body
