In animals it is lipotropic In man its functions are not well established

its deficiency has not been established in man but alopecia i.e loss of hair is seen in mice and eye trouble is noticed in rats

2.it aids the synthesis of acetylcholine lecithin and sphingomyelin 
3. it helps the process of methylation 

Deficiency::

Choline deficiency gives rise to fatty liver in rats In human it is used to strengthen liver
