 Vitamin E ::

Chemistry it mainly alpha tochopherol it is fat soluble and thermostable 
source: soyabean wheat sprouts and cornseed oil yield good quantity of vitamin E Butter milk and leafy vegetables are also moderate sources of vitamin E 

Functions::

1.It prevents excessive oxidation of fatty acids that help to form cell structure it is therefore also called anti oxidative vitamin 
2.It helps in normal functioning of the vascular and nervous system it is therefore used in old people to prevent arteriosclerosis i.e thickening of the blood vessels 
3. it is necessary for the normality of reproductive system in rats it prevents abortion in rats same is not proved in human beings however it is also called Anti sterility vitamin 
4 vit E  is also involved in the formation of RNA ,DNA and RBC 
5. Vit E also promotes wound healing 

Deficiency::

Female rats abort and male rats do not show normal spermatogenesis With vitamin E deficiency abortions occur in rats In women vitamin E might help to overcome abortion and /or miscarriage 
Muscular dystrophy occurs in rats in the absence of Vitamin E giving rise to degeneration of myocardium of the heart Some physicians use Vitamin E for heart condition in patients it is also used to prevent arteriosclerosis of blood vessels in old people it is used to improve muscle metabolism
