Chemistry : It is Vitamin B3 It is a dipeptide of alanine and butyric acid derivative it is water soluble hygroscopic and partially thermostable 

Source::

Liver egg meat milk yeast peas sweet potatoes and molasses are its good sources it is stored in liver and kidney 

Functions::

Coenzyme A of pantothenic acid takes part carbohydrate metabolism (transfer of pyruvic acid into Kreb s cycle) and in the synthesis of cholesterol and fatty acids Coenzyme A also aid conversion of lipids and aminoacids into glucose 

Deficiency::

Not known in man but in rats degeneration of adrenal cortex follows in chick vit B3 deficiency produces involution of the thymus and degeneration of the spinal cord and liver
