HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY NERVOUS SYSTEM

 NERVOUS SYSTEM :::

Nervous system is the system that controls and intergrates the funcations of the human body it works in such a manner that the inner organs function evenly inspite of the ever changing external and internal environment Certain functions are rather initiated by nervous system eg. contraction of skeletal muscle it receives stores and releases messages affecting varied physiological functions starting from a microscopic cell tissue organ to the organ system Thus the whole human body is continuously governed consciously and unconsciously by the nervous system The man made computer is a feeble imitation of the human brain which is itself so compact and critical that appears like a life lasting computer
        The nervous system consists of neurons and its fibres dendrites and axons the histological characteristics of neurons and various types of nerve fibres have been dealt in neurons and dendrites when destroyed by injury or diseases cannot be regenerated and therefore such damage is permanent Hence any injury to brain or spinal cord may result into permanent disability or neurological disorder

    The nerve :::

It is the collection of nerve fibres which may be myelinated or non myelinated Refer physiologically there are two types of nerves in the body
1.Afferent or Sensory nerves : These nerves bring the impulses from various organs or periphery to the brain or Spinal cord
2.Efferent or motor nerves :: These nerves carry the impulses from the brain or spinal cord to the periphery so as to reach the motor end plates
Ganglion :: A ganglion is a collection of nerve cells and their fibres it lies away from the central nervous system The ganglia are like junction boxes where synapses occur and nerve fibres pass through
                Synapse :: A synapse is the junction where one neuron ends and the other begins
