PONS::

It is a massive rounded structure situated between the mid brain and medulla oblongata on the anterior part at the base V, VI, VII and VIII th cranial nerves come out nuclei of these cranial nerves are found in the pons posterior part of the pons is covered by the cerebellum  
                            One of the major functions of pons is maintenance of normal rhythm of respiration through pneumotaxic and apneustic centres other funcations are related to the nuclei of the cranial nerves that originate from pons
