Meningitis ::
It is an inflammation of the coverings of the brain and spinal cord that is the meninges It is caused by variety of microbes the most common being Streptococci Meningococci Staphylococci mycobacterium tuberulosis and H influenza The patient has high fever severe headache stiffness and pain in the neck nausea vomiting and visual disturbances
Encephalitis ::
It is an infectious disease of bacterial or viral origin of the central nervous system with pathological changes in both the grey and white matter of the brain in particular The symptoms are similar to those of meningitis however the patient may have much higher fever and is likely to have more respiratory difficulties than the patient with meningitis It is far more serious than meningitis
Poliomyelitis ::
It results in the destruction of upper motor neurons causing flaccid type of paralysis and wasting of the skeletal muscles it is caused by a virus if not vaccinated children become prone to this infection
Hydrocephalus ::
It is the condition in which the head enlarges because of an excessive amount of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)
Myotonia :::
There is difficulty in relaxing the muscles after they have contracted
