Anatomy ::

Thyroid gland is situated on the thyroid cartilage in centre of the neck and in front of the trachea It has one lobe on each side with a linking isthmus in the centre Sometimes an accessory gland is also found Shape of thyroid gland resembles a butterfly On its back there are two beads like structure on each side the parathyroid glands 
    Histologically thyroid gland is composed of a mass of hollow spheres or follicles Each follicle has a lining of one cell thickness and contains a
