Anatomy ::
From outside wards it consists of vagina uterus fallopian tubes and ovaries
Vagina ::
It is a canal which opens externally into labia minora and majora Internally the mouth of the cervix opens into vaginal canal which is pointing backwards and upwards in the standing position Canal is normally closed and wrinkled and it widens during coitus It secretes a lubricant fluid
Uterus ::
It is an inverted pearshaped organ which is muscular and hollow from inside It is joined from sides (upper parts ) by the fallopian tubes and below it opens in the vagina Lower part of the uterus is called cervix its internal orifice opens in the uterus and the external orifice opens in the vagina
It is a highly muscular organ which enlarges to fill up nearly the whole abdomen during pregnancy to accommodate the foetus The muscular coat is refered as myometrium
Its inner epithelial lining is called endometrium which contains large number of tubular glands which proliferate cyclically The uterus endometrium is a dynamic structure which is partly shed during menstruation and reconstructed after wards Thus uterus undergoes cyclic changes during various phases of menstrual cycle as depicted in
