There are about the size of a pea and lie inferior to prostate glands Their ducts open into spongy urethra During sexual arousal the bulbourethral glands give the way for arrival of sperms its secretion (alkaline substance ) neutralizes acid in urethra
Penis ::
It is the male copulatory organ .The structure of the penis consists essentially of three cylindrical bodies of erectile (cavernous) tissue Two of these are corpora cavernosa arranged side by side in the dorsal half of the organ Third and the long body of erectile tissue is corpus cavenosum urethra which is so called as it conducts urethra in it it is also termed as corpus spongiousm it lies ventral to corpora cavernosa
Each cavernous body is surrounded by a stout sheath of tunica albuginea spongiosum it consists of collagen fibres as well as elastic fibres Tunica albuginea of two corpora cavernosa form a median septum all the three cavernous bodies are bound by an elastic areolar tissue called fascia penis Epidermis of penis is thin and hair are absent except at the root of the organ
Substance of cavernous tissue consists of network of trabecule which are composed of connective tissue of smooth muscles and covered by endothelium
