 SPREAD OF INFECTION ::

1.HUMAN SOURCES ::

The contacts carriers and convalescent persons are important sources which spread the infection They can spread the infection They can spread the infection by the following methods ::
1.Direct Contact ::
Any infectious disease can find its way into another person provided the microbes get the right pathway in his body Cold is transferred by a sneeze scabies by a shake hand and syphilis and AIDS through sexual intercourse 
2.Droplet Infection ::
Minute droplets are sprayed in the atmosphere nearby by secretions of nose and throat as in coughing speaking and sneezing Measles mumps whooping cough diphtheria poliomyelitis are a few of the diseases that are transmitted by this route 
3.Excretions :; 
Saliva sputum urine and stool can transmit certain infectious diseases Saliva may carry virus of whooping cough or rabies sputum may carry bacteria of pneumonia or tuberculosis urine may carry E coli staphylococci or gonococci stool may carry typhoid or microbes of dysentery - diarrhoea especially Entamoeba histolytica 
4.Lesions on the Body ::
When the body surface full of germs is exposed outside germs are transmitted directly or through some agency for example secretions and scabs of small - pox and chicken -pox secretions of gonorrhoea ophthalmia neonatorum i.e. conjunctivitis etc Syphilis and gonorrhoea may be transmitted though sexual intercourse in adults or during the passage of birth from an infected mother in the new born A septic wound gives out staphylococci affecting the skin All this develops fast in persons having low resistance power Proteins and vitamins help to build up body resistance
