DROPLET AND AIR BORNE INFECTIONS ::

These are the diseases the causative microbes of which enter by inhalation through Air dust droplets of saliva or nasal secretion etc Following are the diseases which spread through air and droplet infection 
    Bacterial : Tuberculosis                                 Viral : Chicken pox 
                      Pneumonia                                             Small pox 
                      Diphtheria                                                Influenza 
                      Whooping cough                                     Measles 

Mode of Transmission and Spread of Air - borne disease ::

1.Infection may spread by coming in contact with the sputum or other discharges of the patient contacts or carriers 
2.Infection is Spread by droplets expelled by the patient through coughing sneezing and speaking 
3.The infection is caused by using utensils used by the patient 
4.Dust plays an important part in the spread of this infection By inhaling dust containing microbes derived from the sputum and infected discharges from floor fomites etc 
5.Flies spread this infection mechanically i.e. by infecting food and drinks 
        Bovine tuberculosis spreads through cow s milk Children may get the infection by taking unboiled milk of cow suffering from tuberculosis Tuberculosis which is the most common disease in india is obtained by remaining in contact with tubercular patient or through open infectious cases of tuberculosis 
                    In addition there are many factors which help in the spread of tuberculous infection e.g.lack of diagnostic and treatment facilities poverty over crowding ignorance insufficient ventilation malnutrition frequent childbirth lowering of vitality and industrial hazards 
                Small pox is also transmitted through the pus of skin from pustules and its dried scabs as also by airbone agents
