Prevention and Control of Air borne Diseases ::
1.The cases should be notified to the health authority in different ways people should be educated regarding the diseases Patient should be forbidden from spiting outside in open Spitoons should be provided
2. Patient should be admitted into a hospital or be isolated in the house one should not believe in superstitionus but control measures should be immediately undertaken Babies and children of tubercular parents should be separated A tuberculous mother should not breast feed her baby
3.Secretions from mouth and nose of the patients should be disinfected fomites used by the patient should be disinfected
4.General sanitation should be observed Life in open air sunshine and well ventilated room is preferable
5.Articles of food and drink should be properly supervised Veterinary experts should be employed to inspect meat and animals
6.Healthy living should be encouraged Nourishing food and living in better houses is preferred milk cheese and butter should be taken by patients as well as contacts
7.Patient should keep a handkerchief before his mouth while coughing
8.Infected house should be disinfected with formaldehyde or by vapour of bitter neem tree leaves or sulphur dioxide gas All articles of the house should be disinfected in the sun eg bed sheets cupboard etc
9.Person suffering from communicable diseases should not be allowed to mix freely till he is completely cured Patient should be given bath by using antiseptic soap Affected children should not be sent to school or for playing otherwise they will become a source of infection to other children
10.The dead body of the patient should be covered with a cloth containing formaldehyde solution and then only the body should be disposed off
11.The most important measure is the vaccination and re vaccination after proper interval People should be educated regarding importance of vaccination and house to house vaccination procedure should be adopted it is the responsibility of the chief of the family headmaster and head of the institution to see that all take advantage of the vaccination programme Control measures should be observed at home schools institution factories etc
Bovine type of tuberculosis can be controlled by examination of animals dairies isolation of new born calves of tubercular animals and examination of meat
Mass mini radiography of chest in school s institutions mills and factories gives an early detection of tuberculosis amongst workers
