 LAPAROSCOPY IN WOMEN ::

Laparoscopy is the endoscopic (internal) examination of the pelvic organs by the transperitoneal route The instrument called laparoscope is introduced through the abdominal wall after giving a very small cut on the abdomen near the umbilicus Using this laparoscope the fallopian tubes are viewed and ligated or their lumen is sealed Thus it is a simple method of sterilization without involving any surgery Laparoscopy is performed under local anaesthesia at the site of small incision it needs only one hours stay at the hospital
As per Western method laparoscope transmits intense beam of light into the fallopian tubes The light beam generates intense heat which burns cauterises and thus seals the tubes as a sequence
As per Indian method no cauterisation is done Both the fallopian tubes are clipped with one ring each This procedure is done using laparoscope and takes only 10-15 minutes
Laparoscopic sterilization can be done at any time and there is no need to perform it after delivery it is usually done after 5th day of menstruation and not in the middle of the cycle because if by chance any fertilised egg is there in the uterus it cannot stop if from developing
    Because of safety simplicity and being fool proof it is becoming a popular method of sterilisation in women
