 Gonorrhoea ::

It is caused by a gram-ve bacteria Neisseria gononcocci The symptoms usually appear about three days to two weeks after the intercourse with an infected person Late symptoms are pain and burning on urination women may experience a yellowish vaginal discharge These early symptoms may disappear without treatment However the disease still remains The infection reaches upto the uterus and fallopian tubes in women and into the prostate testis with its epdidymis and seminal vessicles in men There occurs inflammation and sterility may develop 
        Further at a later stage infection may enter the blood causing septicaemia fever chills and discomfort once the bacteria are in the blood stream they cause endocarditis meningitis arthritis etc 
Like syphilis gonorrhoea can also be treated in the early stage by penicillin or other antibiotics ampicillin chloromycetin etc 

    Mode of spread of venereal diseases ::

The spread could be congenital (being transmitted through the placenta of the infected mothers to the foetus ) or acquired Spread is more common through the sexual inter course However these diseases may spread through extragenital contact organs like kissing blood transfusion infected needle injections etc 


Preventive measures against venereal diseases ::

The most important step is to avoid extramarital sex and prostitutes Prostitutes should be registered and have regular medical check -up Educational morale should be boosted in the public mind if a positive case of such a disease is detected it should be treated thoroughly The male partner may use condoms to prevent further spread Venereal Disease Test should be carried out in both partners and they should be treated as necessary if the finding is positive 
        Venereal diseases is on a decline but easy cure should not sanction fresh Venereal diseases exposure
