 IUD SIDE EFFECTS ::

The chances of infection may increase with the use of loop when infection occurs the IUD must be removed by a physician 
        Rarely IUD may may pierce the wall of the uterus when it is being inserted Then surgery may be resorted to remove the IUD immediately

Before having an IUD  inserted a woman should tell her physician if she has ever had or has any of the following conditions :: 
(1) Urinary infection (2) Heavy menstrual flow (3) Bleeding in between the periods (4) Tumour (5) Severe vaginal discharge or infection (6) Recent pregnancy or abortion (7) Cancer of the cervix or uterus (8) Gonorrhoea or syphilis (9) Attacks of fainting 
    If a woman using an IUD  feels that she has become pregnant she should consult her doctor immediately if pregnancy is confirmed removal of the IUD is advised There are two types of IUDs Commonly used Lippe s loop and copper - T-200 
    Lippe s Loop :: It has introduced under the programme in 1965 has been found to be a safe and effective contraceptive device Loops of two different size viz 27.5 mm and 30 mm are in use These can be inserted even by para medical staff with adequate training Experienced auxilliary nurse or mid wives are given special training for the purpose and allowed to insert loops if f ound competent and able to do so on completion of their training 

Copper-T200 ::

Introduced much later than Lippe s loop it has becomes very popular among contraceptive users of spacing methods it is currently being imported though efforts are on way to manufacture it in india Copper -T is inserted by the doctors trained Public Health Nurses or Lady Health visitors The demand for Cu - T as a safe and effective female contraceptive is likely to increase substantially and it could be an important method for increasing the couple protection rate in future
