SINGLE DOSE BIOAVAILABILITY ::
The most reliable and sensitive method for the determination of bioavailability involves an estimation of plasma or serum concentrations of the drug at various time intervals after its oral administration The informations which can be obtained by such determinations are the peak drug concentrations time for peak effect half -life of the durg duration of drug effect and area under the curve
If the dose of drug is increased the magnitude of the peak effect and the duration of drug effect are increased However time for the peak effect is unchanged if the rate of absorption is rapid the time for peak
effect and duration of drug effects are decreased but the magnitude of drug effect is increased if the elimination rate is decreased the magnitude of the drug effect is increased and the duration of drug effect is also increased
